Interview with Pablo Echenique (MEP, Podemos)

Pablo Echenique is a vivid example of a normal citizen that through Podemos found a way to be a political actor in Spain and Europe. Hilary Wainwright interviews him to help us to understand what the Podemos phenomenon is about.

With little more than one year of existence the new Spanish political party Podemos has serious possibilities to win the general elections due at the end of 2015. With more than 300.000 people registered, Podemos is a massive democratic experiment that has allowed thousands of citizens to act politically and be a part of the change that Spanish society (and most of Europe) is looking for.

In Autumn 2014 Pablo came to Amsterdam to discuss the new political practices that the Podemos phenomenon represents. Red Pepper co-editor and TNI Fellow Hillary Wainwright interviews him to help us to understand what the Podemos phenomenon is about. The co-organizer of the event and TNI campaigner and researcher Sol Trumbo recalls the influence of the wave of social unrests that took place in 2011.
