Gonzalo Berrón

Gonzalo Berrón, TNI Associate Fellow and member of the Corporate Power Team. Phd in Political Science from University of Sao Paolo. He has been active since the 2000 in international mobilizations against different expressions of the corporate agenda (FTAs, BITs, TNCs operations) as part of trade union organizations as well as other civil society networks and campaigns in Latin America. In 2012 helped launching and organizing the Global Campaign to Reclaim Peoples Sovereignty, Dismantle Corporate Power and Stop Impunity. Though Argentinian, he has been based in Brazil for many years.

    Desde el año 2015 está teniendo lugar una negociación en el Palacio de las Naciones de las Naciones Unidas en Ginebra, que puede hacer tambalear los cimientos del capitalismo corporativo. Este evento anual es el resultado de la Resolución 29/6 del Consejo de Derechos Humanos de las Naciones Unidas (CDHNU) de junio de 2014, que estableció la formación de un grupo de trabajo intergubernamental cuya misión es desarrollar un instrumento jurídicamente vinculante para la regulación de las empresas transnacionales. Se trata de una iniciativa histórica, que demostró que, a diferencia de lo que muchos creen, es posible cuestionar y enfrentarse al poder empresarial.
